You will be an essential part of helping kids with their academic, social, and personal growth as a SEN Learning Support Assistant. This is not your average school job; as an educator, you will work with students in both the school (ages 5 19) and the college (ages ), assisting them in developing life skills, experiencing daily life, and on fascinating field trips.
The duties associated with this particular position will require you to help students with SEND build their independence and everyday living skills, as well as to provide personal care, mobility aid, and residential support. You will assist pupils in taking advantage of educational opportunities and pursuits both within and beyond the classroom.
The school is enthusiastic about fostering relationships, so they will want you to do the same with pupils in order to protect their mental and physical health.
It is mandatory for all school employees to have their updated DBS registered with the updating service. If not, we can assist you by sending you a direct application link. If you have worked overseas for more than six months in the last five years, you must obtain an OSPC (Overseas Police Check). These will be required in every school setting as a safety precaution.
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Previous experience working with children or young adults, ideally in a school or support work setting.
- Experience with SEND students as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant
- Excellent classroom management
- An NVQ Level 2 or higher Teaching Assistant qualification preferably
- Experience working with Autism
